We’re excited to announce that Chad Cohen, Chief Financial Officer of Zillow Group, has joined Ticketfly’s Board of Directors. Chad brings a wealth of relevant experience to the Ticketfly team as we grow rapidly and continue to bring innovation to live events. In his nearly nine years at Zillow, Chad has led the finance team from venture-backed startup days through Zillow’s IPO in 2011, and overseen over nine acquisitions. Wall Street currently estimates Zillow Group’s 2015 revenues to be over $700 million, but Chad and his team are already eyeing the billion-dollar mark.
Chad is no stranger to the live events world, either. He formerly worked for Ticketmaster as assistant controller and financial integrity manager and has also worked at Countrywide Bank, Ernst & Young, and Novellus Systems. He was named “CFO of the Year” by the Puget Sound Business Journal in 2013.
“Chad’s unique background made him the perfect candidate for our board. His experience in taking Zillow public, and as the CFO of a thriving public Internet company, will prove invaluable to us as we start to think about a public offering. Beyond that, he’s a delightful guy and plays a mean ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ on the guitar.” – Andrew Dreskin, CEO, Ticketfly
No traditional stuffed-shirt finance exec, Chad has a wicked sense of humor and plenty of hobbies in his (limited) free time. Chad grew up in Hong Kong, where he traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, became a black belt in eating dim sum (a brown belt in Judo), and moonlighted as a child model starring in McDonald’s commercials and appearing on toy boxes. He loves exploring the Pacific Northwest, watching TV dramas like “True Detective” and “House of Cards,” and spending time with family.
In addition to playing guitar himself, Chad is a huge music fan, dating back to his early days seeing every major Western act that came through Hong Kong, including an utterly epic KISS/Village People double bill at the Hong Kong Stadium. Since then, he’s been a fan of everyone from Rush to Nine Inch Nails, remembers the 90s glory days at Lollapalooza, and has a lot of fond memories from shows at Ticketfly venues like The Roxy and the Troubadour in Los Angeles.
Chad is a welcome addition to Ticketfly’s board, joining us at a time of incredible momentum for the company. Last year, Ticketfly crossed the $1 billion mark in gross sales since selling our first ticket in 2009, and we look forward to having Chad at the table as we continue to grow in the coming years.
