Good news, Midwesterners. You can now get tickets for Chicago’s Congress Theater on Ticketfly! As a nerd of equal parts movie and music proportions, one of my favorite style of music venues has always been the re-purposed early 1900s movie palace. Watching live music to the ghost beats of an old 35 mm spinning, in a beautifully constructed building, is probably a close second to a dark smoky dive bar (and there are theories that the Congress has got some actual ghosts. That’s pretty rock ‘n roll). So it’s with great nerd pleasure that I can announce the addition of Chicago’s historic Congress Theater to the Ticketfly family of venues!
Located on N. Milwaukee in the Logan Square region of Chicago (which is home to Bucktown and Wicker Park, two of Chi-town’s hippest hoods), The Congress Theater was built in 1926 as part of the Lubliner and Trinz empire of movie houses. Although the chain eventually sold, the Trinz family remains in the movie business to this day. The Theater now hosts some of the biggest and best touring acts coming through its doors, performing for up to 4,000 music fans. For those fans who want to escape the sweaty crowd below and get a view of the architecture, Congress has got a great balcony up top. And although the theater has cocktails, most shows are all ages. And the top notch security team at the venue means your teens are in good hands!
We’ve teamed up with Congress at a great time; this summer’s show are not to be missed! Coming up, you can take your BK Lounge Bitty to see De La Soul with Z-Trip, check out the most-likely-going-to-be-epic return of Erasure (!), or punk it up with Riot Fest shows, including a Danzig Legacy show!
Dont forget to link up with Congress online so you don’t miss anything:
And now you will check out this video of Motörhead doing one of their biggest hits on the Congress stage. The only thing you see! You know it’s gonna be….
