Entertainment can be expensive. Going to festivals and shows on a regular basis adds up, but sometimes the best things in life really are free… even major music festivals. Virgin Mobile FreeFest, the largest free recurring music event in the U.S., returns to Merriweather Post Pavilion September 21st, 2013 for its 8th year (and 5th year free).
Admission won’t cost you a dime, but Virgin is asking for donations to raise money for Sasha Bruce Youthwork–an organization dedicated to helping homeless youth. Donations from past festivals helped build the RE*Generation House, a beautiful transitional living center in Washington, D.C. (check it out in the video below).
The lineup has big names like Vampire Weekend, Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers, MGMT, Robin Thicke, Kaskade, CHVRCHES, City and Colour, Icona Pop and more. Check out the lineup announcement and more information about tickets below:
Tickets are only available thru Ticketfly. They’re free, but you’ll need one for admission. There are also premium paid tickets available that include an official FreeFest T-shirt, a refillable cup, and guaranteed access to the festival if the event reaches capacity. Free and premium paid tickets are officially available August 9th, 2013 at 12PM EDT. Donations are accepted at purchase, online, or at the festival.
As always for FreeFest, there will be a heavy onslaught of people trying to score tickets at the same time, and the venue has a limited capacity. Here are some pro tips for snatching tickets:
2. Sign up for a Ticketfly account ahead of time. One less step between you and your tickets.
3. Bookmark the purchase page so that you can get in a few minutes before the on-sale begins and refresh once the clock strikes noon.
4. If you’re getting an error or restricted message, clear your cache, restart your browser, and try again. If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.
5. Try multiple browsers: Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. One might give you the magic touch. Tickets will not be allocated over the phone.
