In the biggest city in a small New England state lives Higher Ground Ballroom, the renowned music venue and comedy club on the outskirts of Burlington, VT. Veteran Vermont music fans remember when Higher Ground was just a little startup venue in an old Denny’s restaurant in a bland strip mall.
Despite their semi-rough start (no offense to Denny’s), Higher Ground had promising credentials — owner Alex Crothers worked for the management company of Phish, the biggest band Burlington ever produced, and co-owner Kevin Statesir was a longtime restaurant and club professional whose sister married Phish front man Trey Anastasio — but no one knew for sure if Higher Ground would ever take off.
Now in new and improved digs, Higher Ground is flourishing. They book stellar talent, throw awesome shows, and stand their ground as a strong fixture in the New England music scene. Recently, they took action to further refine their repertoire with new marketing tools and technology- they ditched their previous ticketing partner for Ticketfly.
