Eboni Jones, Ticketfly Marketing Intern
Philly is quickly becoming Ticketfly’s home away from home. We’ve already been lucky to work with a stellar roster of Philly clients like R5 Productions, Johnny Brenda’s, The Blockley, Union Transfer (opening up tomorrow!) and more. Our newest addition, The Trocadero Theatre, has a history like none other. This independent music venue has been around since 1870. It is a gorgeous old theater with tons of history. In the past it has been used as an opera house, and has and a burlesque and vaudeville venue.
One of the nice things about “The Troc'” (as the locals call it) is that the shows start promptly and if there’s more than one band playing the turnover is swift. Patrons swear the wait is no longer than 15 minutes before the stage is ready for the next act. This is a blessing cause you know the shows where you end up waiting longer than you actually hear music – right! The main stage can accommodate up to 1200 people when used as general admission, seated events can hold 600. There’s even a venue within this venue called ‘The Balcony’ which holds 250. On concert nights, you’ll find the young at heart crowd chilling in the Balcony where there’s a bar and excellent lines of sight to the stage.
The Balcony even has Movie Mondays where for only $3 admission you get a free PBR and popcorn before 7pm. Some of the past movies at The Balcony are Predator, Goonies, and Twilight. So if you’re bored on a Monday night, then head on down to watch a nostalgic movie. A Cali transplant says “This place reminds me a lot of the Glass House in Pomona, CA (another Ticketfly client!) for many reasons, so perhaps that’s why I like it so much….it reminds me of home!” See I told you Philly is like our home away from home.
The Trocadero Theatre is located in Chinatown and it’s less than two blocks away from Market East train station or the 11th St subway, so it’s easily accessible. There’s nothing stopping you!
