Background

  • Marathon Music Works opened in the Marathon Village neighborhood of Nashville, TN in November 2011, with the goal of hosting private events, fundraisers, concerts, corporate events, video shoots, and more
  • Originally built in the early 1900s, the 14,000 square foot venue was restored, now holds 1,500, and hosts three to four live events each week
  • Joined Ticketfly in August 2011 after a competitive evaluation process
  • During the first 6 months, Gavin DeGraw, Cage the Elephant, Ziggy Marley, Chevelle and O.A.R. performed at the new venue

Goals

  • Stand out from the crowd of venues in “Music City”
  • Find a ticketing partner to help establish a strong following in the Nashville market during and after launch
  • Develop fan loyalty, generate buzz, and build artist relations quickly, without wasting time learning a complicated ticketing system

Results

  • MMW developed branded email newsletter templates to promote events, resulting in an email open rate of over 30 percent, which is double the industry average
  • The Ticketfly platform saved MMW time from the start, so the staff was able to focus on the logistics and challenges of successfully launching a venue
  • MMW had time to focus on implementing green business practices and gaining local visibility through the TV show “American Pickers” and local press
