#NP at Ticketfly HQ

Jun. 04, 2015

The June edition of #NP at Ticketfly HQ, our blog series that brings you all the sounds playing around the ‘fly (well, the good sounds), is coming to you live from a brand spanking new office in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood. To celebrate, turn up the volume and let these tunes soak right in.

Name: Brendan
Department: Product
Now playing: Drowning the Light – “Oceans of Eternity.” Underground metal from Australia. Pretty rough sounding, an acquired taste to be sure.
Best concert experience: Seeing Slayer in a small theater in the 90s. Sweat condensed and ran down the walls.
Next upcoming concert in June or beyond: Burger Boogaloo on July 4-5 in Oakland, CA
Most recent album purchase: Flamin’ Groovies – “Shake Some Action”
Random fact: Despite the metal and the power pop I listed, I once was a guitarist in a pop punk band.

NPOliviaName: Olivia
Department: Customer Support
Now playing: Patrick Watson – “Into Giants”
Best concert experience: Kodaline at Divan du Monde in Paris last year. Small venue, incredible performance. Best part of it was when the band came down from the stage and played a couple songs in the middle of the crowd. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.
Next upcoming concert in June or beyond: The Dø, a French indie pop band, at Rickshaw Stop this Friday!
Most recent album purchase: Caribou – “Our Love.” Perfection.
Favorite lyrics: “And the ones that I made pay were never ones who deserved it/Those who helped me along the way, I smacked them as I thanked them/Yes, I know I am going to hell in a leather jacket/At least I will be in another world, while you’re pissing on my casket”
Julian Casablancas – “Out of the Blue”

NPShireeName: Shiree
Department: Sales
Now playing: Florence + The Machine – “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful”
Best concert experience: The Prodigy at BFD (1997) and again at The Warfield (2009)
Next upcoming concert in June or beyond: I just saw Lana Del Rey & Courtney Love last week, next on my list is Halestorm.
Most recent album purchase: I recently bought Garbage’s release for Record Store Day, “The Chemicals.”
Random fact: I’m in love with the 90’s. Fashion, movies, music, TV… all of it. Especially Daria, Twin Peaks and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Also, I’m obsessed with cats.

NPMickeyName: Mickey
Department: Sales
Now playing: Toto – “Hold The Line”
Best concert experience: Nina Simone in 2000 @ Davies Symphony Hall
Next upcoming concert in June or beyond: Trans Am on 7/9 at The Chapel in SF
Most recent album purchase: The Sex Pistols – Nevermind the Bullocks (original vinyl pressing)
Favorite lyrics:  “Pack up your shit, we’re through
Prepare for black and blue
She slams the door, out into the night she flew
Maybe you’ll shut the fuck up
Well, it’s late and that’s quite enough
But I scan the streets, and I scream off the balcony for you
Drown myself, it’s just as well
Throw my body in the wishing well
Fallin’ apart, spellbound, scheming for you
I’ll crawl to the corner store
Courage makes me want you more
I’m fixin’ my mind but I’m fuckin’ it up
For you, for you, it’s all for you
It’s all for you
It’s all for you
Pack up your shit, we’re through
Prepare for black and blue
She slams the door, out into the night she flew
Love, love, love”
White Buffalo – “Black & Blue”

NPAngeliqueName: Angelique
Department: Recruiting
Now playing: Hozier – “Work Song,” Miguel/Wale – “Coffee (F***ing)”, Kidnap Kip – “Like You Used To,” Day Wave – “Drag,” Odesza/Shy Girls – “All We Need,” and anything Chet Faker…on repeat.
Best concert experience: Treasure Island Music Festival (2013). My friends and I went into the sound booth and stood on a ledge for 2 sets, Major Lazer and Disclosure. It was the ultimate unexpected VIP concert experience.
Next upcoming concert in June or beyond: MisterWives and Trails and Ways, both at The Independent in SF
Most recent album purchase: Just repurchased Smashing Pumpkins – “Siamese Dream”
Favorite lyrics: “You fondle my trigger, then you blame my gun – Fiona Apple – “Limp” and “You’re my downfall, you’re my muse, my worst distraction, my rhythm and blues” – John Legend – “All of Me”
