The Rock, Ribs and Ridges Festival is smokin’

Dec. 11, 2015

We love rock. We love ribs. So how awesome is it that we’re welcoming the Rock, Ribs and Ridges Festival to the #FlyFam.

The New Jersey festival, now in its seventh year, will return to the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ June 25-26, 2016. It is what its name suggests—a smokin’ party featuring classic and Southern rock acts and mouthwatering barbecue, with some cold beer to wash it all down.

While the full lineup has yet to be announced, the festival recently revealed some of its headliners: Kansas, Jefferson Starship and Outlaws, among others. The word you’re looking for is “legendary.”

But the stage isn’t the only thing that’ll be heating up at the festival.

Dozens of food vendors will serve up finger-lickin’ eats. While more than BBQ will be available, this is a rib festival, so prepare yourself for some of the best grilled meats around. The Garden State’s top chefs will also compete for the coveted “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce” titles in a juried cook-off. (Texas Smoke is the reigning champ, but we’re rooting for Three Men and a Baby Back because, c’mon, that name!)

In the event you eat so much you can’t get home, there are campgrounds a mere three-minute walk away from the festival site.

The festival is owned and operated by The Festival Group, which produces massive ballooning, sports and music events. Its premier event, the annual Quick Check Festival of Ballooning, is one of the largest hot-air balloon festivals in the nation, boasting more than 175,000 attendees in 2015.

Specially-priced “super saver” tickets are now on sale for Rock, Ribs and Ridges, with adult VIP weekend passes for $130 (single day $69.50) and GA weekend passes for $65 (single day $35). Tickets for children ages 4-12 are also available, with children 3 and under admitted free.

If you’ve got a taste for barbecue and classic rock ‘n’ roll, then get your tickets ASAP—and pack a bib, just in case.
