Dec. 12, 2014

No matter big or small, electronic or acoustic, New Year’s Eve 2015 is set to be a blow out. We rounded up ten stellar stages and dance floors that look extra promising for this year’s countdown festivities. Scroll through and snag your tix at ticketfly.com. After all, there’s no better way to celebrate 365 days of life than with one final night of live music.

Rhondapolis NYE 2015 ⬝ The Standard ⬝ Los Angeles, CA

RHONDAPOLIS fronts the flash with thirteen floors and four stages throughout The Standard Downtown, featuring more than a dozen international names in house music. Hot Chip (DJ set), Derrick May, Jimmy Edgar, and Martyn are just a few lusted after acts among the lot.

Nick Waterhouse ⬝ Bimbo’s 365 Club ⬝ San Francisco, CA

Evermore charmed by bold horns and vinyl’s crackle, rhythm & blues wunderkind, Nick Waterhouse, knows how to make hips swivel and shout. His latest album, Holly, thrives on nimble guitar licks and the vintage glamour of rock n’ roll.

Les Sins ⬝ Holocene ⬝ Portland, OR

You’ve likely dazed out to indie-pop tinkerer, Toro Y Moi (a.k.a. Chaz Bundick), who trades in chillwave for full-bodied party jams under monicker, Les Sins. Supremely funky, ‘80s fueled, and edgy cut samples are the staples of his bold synth adventures.

doNYC Presents: New Year’s Eve with Holy Ghost! ⬝ Irving Plaza ⬝ New York, NY

For the disco-inclined revelers, Brooklyn synth-pop duo, Holy Ghost!, provides a series of slippery, synth-pumping thrills that should do the trick. Their two DFA releases snap snare drums and kick up cowbells and glitter, determined to have you dancing just a little bit closer.

A Sunny Day In Glasgow ⬝ The Boot & Saddle ⬝ Philadelphia, PA

One of the more aurally engaging bands out there, A Sunny Day In Glasgow bursts across the spectrum of dream-pop, shoegaze, and silvery ambiance. The luminous sounds on this year’s Sea When Absent will surely make for a live show that transports to paranormal utopias.

Resolute / Blkmarket / Output present DJ Koze ⬝ Output ⬝ New York, NY

For this 32+ hour party, pure deepness is played out in noodly to moody dance music form. Hamburg’s DJ Koze, the joyous and idiosyncratic house producer, heads the bill, featuring stacked support from the likes of Sven Weisemann, Frank & Tony, and Wareika.

The Sun Ra Arkestra (Early Show) ⬝ Constellation ⬝ Chicago, IL

The Sun Ra Arkestra still carries on their late bandleader’s soul-stirring, spaced-out spirit. This early NYE performance comes complete with the Egyptian inspired costumes, organized jazz chaos, and cosmic philosophy that 100-year-old Sun Ra would have conducted in 2014.

The Knocks (DJ Set) ⬝ Club Vinyl ⬝ Denver, CO

NYC electro-pop duo, The Knocks, produce poolside party music as easy as a Miller High Life twist off. Bright, disco-tinged, and never serious, their exuberant anthems skyrocket into the realms of fellow boogie enthusiasts, Chromeo, Fred Falke, and St. Lucia.

Reptar ⬝ 40 Watt Club ⬝ Athens, GA

Owning the opening slot on The Faint’s 2014 tour, Reptar is a live alt-rock experience from hometown, Athens, Georgia. Their infectious zip stems from pogostick-ready polyrhythms that find their eager match in vibrant, catchy choruses.

Matthew Dear ⬝ Kingdom Nightclub ⬝ Austin, TX

The mind of Matthew Dear plays outside of boundaries. Not only is he co-founder to Ghostly International, but this curious artist creates dance tracks, optimistic and experimental pop, audio-visual techno performances, and DJ sets that span the musical world’s horizon.
